Stress Test!!

Hello! So this week I had an online test to do for one of my classes. The beauty of online tests are that there is a certain time frame in which you must start your test, but once you start you are allowed 3 hours. My professor told us in class that the test would be available on Tuesday from 4:00pm - 7:00 pm. So, using the procrastination skills I have adopted from Aus and Fred, I started at 6:40. I then got an email from my prof asking why I hadn't started yet, and I explained pretty much what I just explained to you. And this was his reply:

Hello again. Not really, it says clearly that you only have 15 minutes grace. I explained clearly in class, and it is written in the instructions of the test that its is to be taken between 4 and 7 pm. You cannot start at any time and still have 3 hours. Submit the test at once or I will submit it for you.

FREKING TERRIFYING, considering I was only 5 questions in... So I wrapped up the other 45 questions as fast as I could, not getting the opportunity to use the "open book" privilege that we were given. Turns out I got a 68%. I'm not happy at all. Those marks won't get me into med OR optometry school. Ugh!

Wow, it has been a while!

I have been SO busy, like everyone is. School is well underway and I have a new job. All is well so far. My grades are at an all-time high and I am working hard for them!

This week I am babysitting for Maria. Early mornings, hockey practices, and birthday parties!! AHHHH! I feel like I have gotten a sample of motherhood! I can reassure, this lifestyle won't be a reality for me for a while yet.

This weekend I am going to visit my Dad in Toronto. I haven't seen him since the beginning of the summer, I think... Needless to say it has been a while!

Where is my summer going!?!?

I feel like the summer is flying by, and we haven't even had that many summery days! It's already the middle of June, AHHH!

NOW I am appreciating the good!

So I have been having much better days since my Debbie-Downer day on Monday!

My two shifts at the doctor's office were a lot of fun! I did small things like faxing, filing, computer stuff, etc. But I really liked the environment, and it doesn't hurt when your mommy is there lol. I'm going to have to buy her some more chocolate because I kept sneaking chocolate out of her drawer when she wasn't looking.

What I had thought was me getting heck for not paying tuition was ACTUALLY the LU server being down!!! Apparently nobody could log on on Monday because the website was down! Gosh! But at least I am more motivated to get my tuition payed and that headache out of the way.

Austin and I were very fortunate to be given Nanny & Poppa's 1998 Dodge Ram on Monday. Austin and Tammy went to pick it up and when I saw it I was shocked! I didn't have very high expectations because that last vehicle that we got was described as a Ford Focus, and turned out to be a Ford Escort station wagon (*cough* Tammy). So I didn't set myself up for disappointment this time lol. I love the truck! It is super well kept and we really appreciate it!!!

I took my measurements yesterday for the heck of it; to see if any of these butt-busting sweat sessions are doing me any good. I lost and inch off my thighs and gained and inch on my biceps in 10 days!!! Awesome!

I also got my marks back today from an English essay I handed in last week. The essay is worth 10% ofmy final mark and I got... wait for it...98%!!! WOOHOO!!!! It's about time I started getting those good marks!!

Anywho, that is all the excitement for today. Have a great weekend everyone! HUGS

you have to have the bad to appreciate the good.

Today has been a pretty bad day, and and I feel at the point where I would appreciate ANYTHING good.

Randy's dog Angus hasn't been well the past few days, and today they put him down. poor Angus had a tumor in his neck that was putting pressure on his wind pipe, as well as the nerve that controlled his front legs.

I babysat two 19 month old twins today. there was actually nothing bad about that. They are busy little guys, but the didn't give me a hard time.

I weighed myself this morning and after doing my Insanity workouts religiously for the past 3 weeks I have GAINED 2 lbs. fml.

I got home to do a workout for the first time in 3 days and my computer is having a hard time reading the thumb drive I have them saved on. You are supposed to buy the workout DVDs but since I am MC Hammer - broke I had to pirate them off the internet. So I can't do a workout today.

Then I get upstairs to hand in my online assignment that is due tonight and I got a slap in the face from LU. Since I havent paid my tuition for the summer, because I am MC Hammer - Broke, they booted me off their server, so I can't sign into my account to hand in my assignment.

I am just beside myself right now, but I know things will feel better in the morning.

The Good Ol' coffee shop

Today is my 4th morning that I got up at 6 am. For some of you that may be normal, but for this 19 yea old that is too early! Every weekday morning the same people come in and get the same thing. One guy from town is in Every morning at 7 am and sits and talks with the other men from town until 9:30 to 10. He has at least 5 coffee every morning. Thats $10 a day! Gosh, that must add up!

My schedule is pretty full for June. I am working at the coffee shop, the doctor's office, and babysitting occasionally for Maria McLaughlan and Nelie Little.

Maria and I have been walking every evening this week. The Gore Bay Summerfest this year is having a 5k and 10k run and WE are going to DO IT!!! It is in 2 months and we are going to start jogging to get ready for it!! We are hoping that anyone seroiusly good at running will just go in the 10k run, so we can do well in the 5k. All I want is a participant ribbon because that is all I've ever gotten lol. All through school I sucked at sports, so I'm not getting my hopes up for this one!

Have a great weekend everyone! HUGS

SUMMERRR

Its SUMMER TIME!! Well, it isn't according to the weather, but I survived all my exams, and made it back to the Island. I'm working part-time back at the coffee shop. It's not too bad, Leanne hasn't changed a bit. She still forgets to order stuff, and she takes the lazy way out when she can get away with it. But I can't complain. She is really nice and considerate and she always means well.

I also was fortunate to get hired at the doctor's office part time starting next month!! It will be every Tuesday and Wednesday to just do random stuff around the office. It doesn't sound like much, but hopefully it will give me some skills to get hired on in an optometry office in Sudbury. That't probably just wishful thinking though.

I am currently doing 3 summer distance ed. courses: English, Human Sexuality, and Child Rearing Across Cultures. English is english.... here is a story, now write me an essay on the meaning.. blah! Human Sexuality isn't as... perverted... as it sounds, and it was the only summer bio course I could take, so give me a break! It teaches you a lot about hormones, anatomy, developmental bio. But it also has some akward stuff like arousal techniques. Stuff like that kinda prevents you from reading the textbook in public. Child Rearing across cultures is an anthropoligical course about how children are brought up in different cultures. It it super interesting! I learned that mothers in tribal cultures (like in Africa) carry their child EVERYWHERE. This allows the child to develop better cognitively than western babies since they see a lot more in a shorter period of time. They are also breast fed longer which allows for better nutrition as well as sentimental attachment to the mother. It's got a lot of interesting stuff about raising kids!

Tomorrow is Alyssa's 20th birthday. Twenty sounds SO OLD to me :S! It's scary!!! No more J-14 magazine, or pop and chip parties, or dress up. Now, on to rent, bills, ... LIFE!!!

That's all I have for now... I will leave you with a cute video of Molly driving on Shawn's lap. No poodles were harmed in the making of this video.

2/4 Exams DONE!

Yesterday's Anatomy exam went pretty well. it was 100 multiple choice questions which is a blessing and a curse. Its good because if you get asked " what muscle does this...?" and you can't think of the name off the top of your head, it is right there for you to recognize. The curse is if you get asked:

The muscles of they eyeball:
a) are extringic
b) are smooth muscle
c) are instringic
d) a and b
e) b and c

AHHH! I knew that b was right for sure, but are the muscles extringic, or instringic!?!?!? These questions messed me up a lot! Luckily the whole test wasn't these multiple-multiple choice. I'm pretty sure I got at least a 70 on it, but you know what happens when I expect a good mark. Grrr.

Next tuesday (after easter :/) is Organic Chem, which is my hardest exam. I am super scared for this one. Then the following day, Wednesday, is my final exam being Statistics! Then FREEDOM!

Have a good week everyone!

1/4 exams DONE!

Physics went reeealllly well last night :) All the questions were straight out of the homework questions!! 8/10 of them I completely remembered how to do, and 2 kinda stumped me. But hopefully I got part marks for the ones I wasn't sure of. Usually with questions that involve calculations you get part marks even if you don't come up with the right answer.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!! I will check back in to let you know how my Anatomy exam goes.

First Exam of the semester!

Morning/ afternoon everyone! Tonight at 7:00 pm I have my first exam. It is physics, which I'm actually not too worried about. I have studied allll of the homework questions and I get them all 8). I will let ya know how it went. My next one is Monday at 9 am and its Anatomy. That one is making me nervous though :S

TTFN!

And the lab exam mark is in!

So turns out apparently I only got a 69! I think that is BOGUS so I emailed the lady in charge of the marks and told her to double check because I came out of that exam confident that I got an 80+!!!! So we shal see how that goes...

Friday, April 1, 2011

YUSSS!

I got my mark back for my last A&P back: 73% YUSSSSS its not as good as it should be, but it is my highest yet :) I won't get my lab exam mark back until Tuesday. I'm pretty sure I got an 80 on that one XD woohoo!

Austin's eyes are all good! I will have to take a pic of the funny eye covers he has to wear at night. His vision is almost perfect now. Definitely a lot better than it was! He is still a little sensitive to light, so our TV's brightness is at not-so-bright. They don't hurt anymore and all is good!
I will check back in later next week with my lab exam mark, unless anything epic happens between not an then. Have a great weekend! HUGS!

Thursday, March 31, 2011

Today could go one of two ways:

a) blind as a bat
b) perfect vision

Yah, aus is getting his laser eye surjery. Most likely he will recover and his eyes will have perfect vision, orrrr he could be the <0.001% and end up blind. Either way we are out like 4k... urg. But I guess you have to invest to get anything out of anything. He wants to be a cop or work for Search and Rescue in the military, or fly helicopters n all that jazz. All of the above sources of employment require perfect uncorrected vision; which he certainly does not have.

His surgery isthis afternoon at 4. I haven't really researched how this surgery works. I have only seen Minority Report where Tom Cruise gets his eyeballs replaced to avoid being scanned in the retina scanners and caught by the cops and thrown in prison for a murder he didn't commit yet. (ya gotta see the movie! rlyyyy good!) So when I think of any eye surgery this is the scene that comes to mind:

I will check back and let you know how it all went.

Monday, March 28, 2011

Classes are (almost) over!

Tomorrow I have a lab exam for anatomy at 7:00 pm, then most of my classes are over, WOOHOO! then my first exam isn't til April 14th!

"Stress is related to 99% of all illness"

that's a quote from Lululemon's poster. and yes, I am stressed. and yes, I have been very sick lately. the past 3 days I've had a stomach bug, then the week before I had a stuffy nose and flemmy throat (yum), then the 2 weeks before that I had a respiratory virus. UGH! So since school is stressin me out, as well as other things, I haven't been feeling 100% since reading week (a month ago). Lets hope that once my tests are done between now and Tuesday I will be better!

Yout don't know what you got...

I just got out of my organic chem lab. I had casually asked my lab partner why she was gone last week and she told me, "well my brother is in critical care in Toronto". I said I was sorry to hear that, and I didn't want to interrogate her about what happened. She later mentioned that he was in a car accident. I know she is from Sudbury, so for her brother to be taken to Torono must mean he is in pretty bad shape. I just wanted to use this to remind us all that every day we are so blessed with the wonderful things we have: health and family. I myself get caught up in the busy day-to-day grind, and I need to work on appreciating the important things, and not getting worked up about the small things that don't really matter. My lab partner struck a chord in me, and I am so grateful for how lucky I am that all my loved ones are healthy :D

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

So I know I have abandoned my blog, and I'm sorry. School is SO INSANE!!! My Statistics course takes up a lot of my time because each week we have an assignment that is worth 3%, and they take about 12 hrs. to do. Plus I have weekly physics assignments, and weekly chem lab write ups so I'm pretty much sick of school! I am officially done on the 27th of April. That is my last exam. Then I think I am going to take summer courses to catch up on my courses that did not transfer over from Guelph.
Nothing new really...
OH! the Guys and I went to see Battle LA in theatres on Tuesday and it was SOOO GOOD! There was guns and aliens and violence and blood! So ya know its gotta be good... Definately think the US marines put a lot of $$$ into it because there was a lot of talk that the marines were SO amazing and they never leave a man behind, and blah blah blah... but even still it is a good movie.

I'm not celebrating St Patty's today, well not as much as the guys. I kicked them out to go to Nicks so I can have the night to do homework and study for my 3 midterms next week. Well, I also got one of the tiny bottles of Bailey's to put in my coffee tonight. That's my celebration : Homework and coffee with Bailey's.

Anywho I had better go. I will try my hardest to make another post this weekend. Hopefully the guys will go to the island and I will have the place to myself :D HUGS!!!

ADKFONGAGNADLKNGKNHTKJNHRK

yep! It's midterm season and I am officially losing my mind! I was up late last night studying for my anatomy midterm, which is Thurs morning. I haven't been doing as well as I want to in that course so I'm really kicking it into gear! No sleep. No time for sleep. You get plenty of time to sleep when you're dead! That's my motto until the summer. I have taken a new approach to midterm season. Usually I am so busy doing my weekly assignments I find it hard to get sufficient study time in. But silly me had a notion. Assignments aren't worth nearly as much as the midterm! So scrap the assignment time, and rack up the study time! DUH! I always wondered why i did so well on the assignments, but when it came to testing it wasn't so hot. DUHHH BRIANNA!

This past weekend wasn't too exciting. Well, Sunday night Austin had some friends over and I took advantage of the fact that one of them had had too much to drink ( i know this sounds bad so far...) but I convinced him to let me BLEACH his hair! Muhahahaha! Jeff Butler is no longer a red-headed ginger. He now looks like Malfoay from Harry Potter. Hehehehonhonhon. that's what happens when u get inebriated and mess up MY spotless apartment. U wake up with a head full of albino!

Ok, not I gota go study how our ears work exactly. Have a great week everyone!!!

Siren's personal Car seat.

So siren is so much of a princess that she has dubbed me her car seat, and furthermore her shedding-hair-catcher. When I got out of the car I was both covered in hair and oxygen deprived! What a dog!

And just for fun, this is the mouse blood sample that I centrifuged in my bio lab. The top layer is the plasma (consisting of water, electrolytes, plasma proteins, and random things carried by blood) The more dense bottom layer is red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. yummy!
Have a great weekend everyone. Please sleep in for me! I have been working super hard this week trying to get done all of my assignments. BLAH!!! HUGS

Some ppl have horseshoes wayyyyy up their bums!

Poor Freddie was introduced to black ice the other night. Luckily him, Ryan, Michelle, and Erin are all okay, even though the car was destroyed by a couple trees and a huge rock.

Mom and Alana have officially moved to the Island now. It is rly nice to have them closer now. Dad and Mom and I all went in on a Nintendo DSi for Alana when they were all on sale. I was finally able to give it to her this weekend and she was glued to it the whooole time! Gifts for alana are tricky because either its a hit or miss. There was also a poster sale at my school and I found her a Taylor Launtner (Jacob) poster for her new room. I think she may have loved that even more, I mean, a DSi doesn't have a 6-pack lol.

But my week is going well so far. Last one was a busy one because I had so many assignments due, but this one should be a little less hectic. Have a good week everyone!

HUGS!

Back in the Swing of things.

So we are 90% done geting settled into this place. Here is our living room with the shelves we got at ikea:And here is our messily-organized bedroom. We got the closet organizer on sale at Canadian Tire today for just a bit over $100! woohoo! We still need to find a bed frame though :S

And here is Fred after he let me paint his nails pink hehehonhonhon.

And a few days ago I leaned why not to slice frozen bread with a sharp, shaaaarp bread knife:

It is healing well, but I can't feel between my fingernail and the cut. Doubt that will ever come back :( In case you were worried, I managed to make my garlic bread once I got a band-aid on the sucker lol.

Austin is back from the island this weekend. I think he will be here for a while now that he is finished helping with Fred's truck. School is off to a good yet hectic start this semester. I need to work out a study schedule before I fall behind. Hope everyone has a good week! Ttyl. HUGS!!!

Pink Stamper's Design Team Challenge

Hi guys. So with all my new toys I got for Christmas I decided to take on one of The Pink Stamper's challenges. She is basically running try-outs for her design team. There are 2 spots open and the designers she choses work with her to demonstrate some of the wonderful things you can do with the cricut. The entry is supposed to be a special project using pink, brown, and green. This is my entry:

It a card in the shape of a cute owl. With my gypsy I welded two 5"owls together from the Create A Critter cartridge. The light-pink cardstock is glitter paper by My Mind's Eye, and the pink, brown, and yellow cardstock is from the Brights cardstock paper bad by DCWV. The stamp is from one of the small $1.50 sets you get at Michael's. I also inked the brown wings and the beak with black ink so they pop out a bit more. And of course I had to add pink glitter to her eyelids, and a cute green flower in her hair ;) I hat a lot of fun making this card, and I worte a letter in it to send to my sister :D

I think I would be an awesome pink designer because I put a fun, young spin on my projects and each one of them is unique. Paper-crafting is the one thing I can do to get the stresses of school out of my head. I am so thankful for all my tools my family has helped me get. I'm proud of what I come up with and I can't wait to share it with friends n fam. I am very thankful for Robyn, the pink stamper, because she has taught me a lot on her blog and she has shown me my new favorite hobby.

Tomorrow my classes start back up again :/ So I'm glad I got this challenge done on my last stress-free night.

Here is the link to My Pink Stamper's blog where I submitted my card. Have a good night everyone.

HaHa, just kidding

So I thought I started school next Wednesday, but haha jk, I start this Wednesday :/ I havent even finished organizing my class schedule for this semester, and since it is the last minute and everyone has procrastinated to chose their courses the server for the LU website is uber slow. grrr.

I spent most of my day playing with me new crafting stuff. I got 6 scrapbook pages done while Aus. Jeff and Fred playes X Box on the new TV. Aus and I also went out and got 3 fishies for out tank mom gave us. He was being a Nazi on what kind of fish we would get. I wanted a clear one, but he said those are gross, so we had to get this shark thinger, and since it is aggressive, we couldnt get the clear ones cuz they would get eatted.

Other than that my day was pretty ordinary...

I am NOT looking forward to starting school a week earlier than anticipated!

Happy Christmas

Now that my family tour is done down south Austin and I are back home in Northern Ontario. We spent an evening in Niagara falls for as my gift from Austin. Here are some pics:

you can click on them to view them larger

I also taped Alana opening her gifts from Dad

Last night we got back. We had plans to go out with friends for new years in Sudbury, but we were too pooched from the travelling so we stayed and rang in the new year with a bottle of Bambino lol. It was nice and quiet, not to mention hangover free! We are working on organizing our place, we got a lot of nice things over the holidays and we need to make room for them. I am going to post pictures of our place once its all finished. Until then, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
